*************************************************************************** July 18,2022 - Patterson AeroSales is no longer selling New Murphy Aircraft Mfg. Kits. Effective July 18th, 2022, we will cease all sales activities for New Kits from Murphy Aircraft Mfg. Ltd. We will continue our sales of used Murphy aircraft and partial kits, and from other manufacturers. Watch for more updates on this site. *************************************************************************** May 18,2022 - If we had our May meeting, the News From The Factory section would have been full ! A lot has been happening out there ! As most of you know, Murphy Aircraft Manufacturing Ltd started 2022 with new owners ! The buyers are part of an international corporation with interests in many industries, including an aerospace division that has association with major manufacturers. This means we should have great connections with their supply chain - and no material shortages ! Being well financed, we are moving ahead with substantially increasing staff and production. Two staff Aeronautical Engineers will be working on certifying the Rebel as LSA, and the Moose to full FAR 23 standard, to open up international markets. New production people are working on building 2 new demonstrators - both with tricycle gear, to meet market demand. Plans are to offer both gear options. Murphy will again be at the major shows, starting with Oshkosh this year. Please come visit us at booths 424 & 425 ! We will be showing the new builds of the Rebel and Moose. Factory support will be greatly improved, with new staff for sales and parts support - including new email addresses - to go with the new website being designed ! All of these changes are a huge transition, so please be patient with the factory as they get everyone up to speed ! Patterson AeroSales will continue to provide sales support, as always. We are now accepting new orders for the full range of Murphy products, with introductory pricing. Please note that shipping dates will start later this year, as we get rolling. Hopes/plans are to ship about 200 kits by Christmas, and be able to reduce shipping cycles to about 6 - 8 weeks, or better, for next year. Please call us with questions, or to order ! RAA-TR have postponed all club events until July 4,2022. The famous fly-in/drive in BBQs start on Monday July 4th ! Ltd. are recommending this center to customers who want help with completion of their Murphy kits, or to bring them to Quick-Build status. See the Murphyair.com News section. *May 18,2020 - Sadly, it seems that most of 2020 has been cancelled by the Covid-19 Virus ! By now, you know that Sun 'n Fun, Arlington, and AirVenture Oshkosh have ALL been cancelled ! RAA-TR have cancelled all meetings, including the famous Monday night BBQ's, until at least July, so our Rebel Builders Meetings will start on Sunday, September 20th -- IF POSSIBLE !! We will advise on the status of the Sept. meeting as soon as we know ! The Murphy Aircraft factory has been operating with just a skeleton staff because of the Covid-19 regulations, so email response times are longer. Jan. 1, 2020 - Happy New Year to all our friends ! Sept. 15,2019 - We had a great Murphy Owners Meeting on Sunday, Sept. 15th, at the RAA-TR Hangar, 1 pm at the north end of Brampton Airport (CNC3). There was a small crowd, because of the rainy weather, and we all had a good time exchanging tips & tricks. We had 3 builders from New York, and Ken started a discussion about the bottom of the rudder post doubler. We ended up with other contributions, for a total of 3 different solutions !  The Copper Cleco went to Trevor P. - a bit late, but well deserved. with luck, he'll collect the Silver Cleco next meeting ... We had the usual coffee & donuts, PLUS some extra goodies .... Anna's surprise - a mixed cheese, crackers, veggies & fruit platter ! July 23rd, 2019 - Another PAS Annual Murphy Owners Summer Get-Together at AirVenture Tuesday afternoon, July 23rd - We had another Great PAS Murphy Owners (and WannaBe's) Annual Get-Together at Oshkosh ! We met up on Tuesday July 23rd, from about 2:30 to 5 PM, at the Homebuilders Camping Pavilion in Central Homebuilt Camping (click for map), west of the Forum area. (the RED FLAG tram took you along Bonzo Ave., right to the Pavillion !)  EAA Photo Look for the big Canadian flag in the EAA Homebuilders Camping Pavilion   Start of the party Lots of discussion   Pilots talk with their hands ! Tasty munchies   Good times Jerry --- "..and there I was ......" Ruth ---- "..that's how it started !"   Jim checking the weather Bob holding forth ! Anna & I were back hosting again, and supplied the refreshments and munchies for all the builders and prospective builders who wanted to see real Murphy aircraft & talk to the builders. It was very enjoyable meeting & talking with all the people we talk to online all year ! Nice to add faces to the new ones ... It's always great to see builders like Jerry, Shane, and Tim finishing their Murphys and flying them in to Oshkosh for the first time ! Look forward to seeing more new completions next year, along with the 'repeat offenders' ! No cooking for us again this year, some could bring your own hot dogs or burgers, since EAA kindly supplies gas grills for you to use at the pavilion ! Many Canadians headed over to the COPA National Party, at the SOS Bros. Beer Tent for their Members BBQ, at 5:00 pm .... (we were too tired...) Started at Inglis Field (CWH5) in Wingham ON It's been years since we had a weekend Ramble, and this was a good one ! Several Rebels flew in to Inglis Field on Friday & Saturday, & one tent was pitched. Sunday morning we flew out to Goderich for a big breakfast, then back to Wingham to continue the party ! Monday, we were a little slower getting up, but did get organized, & flew out to Hanover for a huge breakfast. Moving slowly after that feed, we all headed out in different directions for home. It was a very enjoyable weekend - Thanks to Tom & Ann for setting everything up !  Happy Ramblers - Ramble 2019 Thanks again to Tom & Ann for a great long weekend ! We had a clubhouse FULL of happy Rebel builders & fliers gathered around the fireplace ! You really have to be here to learn about Rebels. :-) The stories and experiences about building and flying during the introduction session were so good - and so long - that we didn't get to the rest of the meeting ! Sept. 23, 2017 - We had a Murphy Builders Visit, at Trevor's, in Burlington, ON., from 9 to 4. We arrived about 2, with coffee maker & donuts. Trevor already had coffee going, from the EAA Chapter visit in the morning, and there were a few EAA members there too. It was beautiful, hot weather, so the turnout was a bit small, but everybody admired Trevor's workmanship and progress - this will be a NICE Rebel ! Thanks for hosting ! Hope to have more Builders Visits next year. Sept 10, 2017 - We had another great Murphy Owners Meeting, on Sunday, Sept. 17th , at the RAA-TR Hangar, at the north end of Brampton Airport (CNC3). We had the usual coffee & donuts, PLUS some extra goodies .... Captain Ken and 'Fish' flew in, and the rest of the Parry Sound Wing came by road. George washed his freshly vinyl-wrapped Rebel, and taxied it up to show it off. A good turnout, with several new-ish builders/owners - we welcomed Donny and his wife Dorothy, Derek, and Glen. Discussion was lively, and covered a wide range of topics, as usual ! Trevor was awarded the Copper Cleco Trophy, and reminded everyone to come to his Builder Visit on Sept. 23rd, in Burlington. April 4th,2017 - We had another GREAT PAS Murphy Owners Get-Together at Sun 'n Fun ! We partied in Lakeland, Florida. Everyone Welcome ! Met everyone on Tuesday, April 4th, from 3 pm on until after dark at the Campground Corn Roast site ! Folks drifted in early, and we shared beer, wine, soft drinks, water, & lots of munchies - nacho chips & salsa, peanuts, cheezies, and other goodies. That kept us going until we bought delicious sweet corn from the local EAA Chapter ! The music started about 5 pm, after a bit of confusion. Weather delayed the musicians ... Jim C. arrived early - and left 1st ! We're HAPPY !! The Murphy crew came late.. Something about flying floats in the a.m. ... ;-) ... Busy writing up orders at the booth ! We had another great Murphy Owners Meeting, on Sunday, January 8th , at the RAA-TR Hangar, at Brampton Airport (CNC3), The weather wasn't great, and we thought it might be a small group - but everybody arrived - Captain Ken and the Black Sheep Squadron, the Parry Sound Wing, and a few others, including a possible new builder. We had a different format - a circle around the fireplace, for a casual chat. Captain Ken had an interesting project to show for the Rebel Forum - an oleo/spring shock absorber that he is creating to replace his bungee/die spring land gear setup ! It looked slick, although he hinted it would be pricey ... There were other interesting bits & pieces, and lots of discussion. We had the usual coffee & donuts, PLUS some extra goodies .... nobody left hungry ! Jan. 1, 2017 - Happy New Year to all our friends ! We exchanged tips 'n tricks on building, with lots of discussion and checking out the fly-in Rebels. Lots of 'News from the Factory' - new models, new prices, Oshkosh, etc. ! One discussion resulted in a plan to have the Builders Meetings at different locations next year - Parry Sound was one option, and Tom's airport was another. TBD at the next meeting .... Hope we'll see everyone at the Next Builders Meeting, on Sunday, January 8th, 2017. Sept. 16 - Congrats to Mike B. on his recently completed amphib Rebel ! Hope we will see it at the Murphy Owners/Builders Meeting on Sunday - bring sunglasses !! :-)  This is the first Rebel here that is ALL vinyl wrapped - NO paint !! Lighter, less expensive, and great flexibility for designs ... Sept. 10 - On Tuesday afternoon, July 26th - we had another (our 9th !) great PAS Murphy Owners (and WannaBe's) Annual Get-Together Party at Oshkosh ! We met up on Tuesday July 26th, from 3 to 5 PM, at the Big Striped Tent in Central Homebuilt Camping (click for map), west of the Forum area. Party Headquarters !   Look for the big Canadian flags. The Murphy factory crew enjoyed the show. Anna & I were back hosting again, and supplied the refreshments and munchies for all the builders and prospective builders who wanted to see real Murphy aircraft & talk to the builders. The crowd was smaller than last year, but everyone was happy ! No cooking this year - we headed over to the COPA National tent, north of Building A, at 5:30 pm for their BBQ - $1 (!!) hot dogs & burgers. Sadly, the food was all gone when we got there ! :-( .. Earlier next year !! EAA have kindly provided the big striped tent, and several BBQ's for the homebuilders, and allowed us to use them again this year ! May 21 - We had another great Murphy Owners Meeting, on Sunday, May 15th , at the RAA-TR Clubhouse, at Brampton Airport (CNC3), The weather was horrible - freezing cold, very windy, with snow squalls going through regularly ! Felt like November, as the whole building shook in the gusts... We all gathered around the fireplace, and exchanged tips 'n tricks on building, with lots of discussion about floats, tires, lube, & bushings. Lots of 'News from the Factory' - new models, new prices, new people, new policies, etc. ! Captain Ken was there , as usual, and the Northern Wing drove through the snow from Parry Sound, so it was a good group. One discussion resulted in a plan to have the Builders Meetings at different locations next year - Parry Sound was one option. More news later, as things evolve... Please contact us if there is something you need & can't find. Apr. 15 - RADICAL REBEL - Special Introductory Price ! The factory have announced the special price of only $35,900 USD for the first 20 kits of the new Radical Rebel. This price will apply to all orders starting NOW ! Murphy Aircraft Mfg. Ltd. will have the prototype on display in their booth at EAA Airventure OSHKOSH. It's possible the first 20 will be sold by then ! Contact us to order, and for details. Apr. 2 - Sun 'n Fun 2016 started on Tuesday, April 5th, at Lakeland, FL. There was a Murphy Builders Get-Together at the Campground Corn Roast site, from about 3:30 onward. It was very casual this year, as Anna & I were not there, and we hadn't made any arrangements. Between the economy and the Canadian $ exchange rate, there were likely very few Canadians this year - I only know of 3 so far.... We hope everyone who did make it to Lakeland did head over and share some refreshments, stories, and corn with other builders and wanna-be's. There was no Murphy booth at the show. Jan. 18, 2016 - We started the New Year off right, with friends and fun - at our great Murphy Owners Meeting, on Sunday, Jan 10th , at the RAA-TR Clubhouse, 1 pm at the north end of Brampton Airport (CNC3). The weather was classic Ace McCool "WOXOF - 50 and 1/8" - foggy, with a light drizzle. For a while, Anna & I thought it would be just us and a lot of donuts ! Then Ken arrived - albeit by car, followed by Mike, with Trevor, who drove 3 1/2 hr. from near Rochester, NY, and the Parry Sound Wing of the Black Sheep Squadron, who had a 2 1/2 hr. drive through the fog. So we had a great, but small meeting. We did exchange tips 'n tricks on building, and socialize around the fireplace. Congrats to Mike B., who flew his new amphib Rebel for the first time, last week ! Unfortunately, he couldn't make it for this one ... The winds picked up, the fog blew out (gusts to 70+ !), and it started to snow ... and everyone prepared for a long drive home. Fortunately, the wind dropped a bit, and the snow stopped later ... There was discussion about the Murphy factory plans for a Radical Rebel and an LSA Rebel, and lots of other interesting things. We explained that economics and demographics were conspiring to reduce our numbers, so we are changing from meeting every 2 months, to every 4 months. It was heartening to hear that we do still provide something useful to the builders - and we will continue to try to do that. We appreciate your support ! Nov. 25 - Congratulations to James Withrow Jr., who just passed 1,000 hours in his Rebel. He started the project in 1998, finished in 2000, and has been flying happily ever since ! His goal now is to hit 1,400 hours - the time it took him to complete building his Rebel. It was the smallest crowd for a long time, but a good casual meeting. (I've been living on a diet of donuts, muffins, and bagels - leftovers ! ;-) ) The Black Sheep Squadron all flew in, and 2 local builders drove. We had a tour of Mike F.'s hangar & rebuild project, with lots of interest, and then a trip to see Mike B.'s newly inspected beauty of a Rebel - we hope to see it flying before the next meeting ! There was much discussion about polishing, and the many nice features Mike has added. The modified cowling covering the IO-360 was much admired ! Here are a few pics of cowls that really cool ... He completed it last year, and already has about 200 hours on it ! We were back hosting again, and enjoyed supplying the refreshments, munchies, and lots of brats on buns, to all the builders and prospective builders who wanted to see real Murphy aircraft & talk to the other builders. May 25 - We had a great Murphy Builders Meeting - on Sunday, May 24th, 1 PM, at Brampton RAA Hangar, north end of Brampton airport (CNC3) ! There were Five fly in Rebels, 3 on Amphibs ! The Black Sheep Squadron were there, and the Northern Wing from Parry Sound. Brian drove all the way from Nova Scotia to learn about Rebels ! He has completed the tail feathers and is into the wings on #078R, after a long layoff. There were many interesting stories, and lots of time to check out all the different features of those Rebels ! Apr. 26 - We had a GREAT PAS Murphy Owners Get-Together at Sun 'n Fun 2015 ! Tuesday, April 21st, from 3 pm on until after dark at the Campground Corn Roast site ! I've had a health challenge with my legs, so couldn't make it this year. :-( Fortunately, the party was still ON ! Paul M. - a Florida Rebel builder, on his second Rebel, kindly volunteered to step in & manage the party, pick up the beer, and meet everyone to socialize ! A little smaller crowd, but all enjoyed the chance to talk about Rebels, Elites, and Moose kits, while enjoying the Rebel brand beer that Paul found somewhere - a new tradition ! Thanks Paul ! Mar. 17 - We had another great Murphy Builders Meeting - on Sunday, March 8th, at Brampton RAA Clubhouse. All the Usual Suspects were there - the Black Sheep Squadron, the Parry Sound Wing, - and Captain Ken flew in, as usual, unbothered by the wind ! There were many lively discussions, and tips 'n tricks shared, and lots of coffee & donuts consumed. It was almost a full room !   One topic of concern was the new proposed government regulations on private airstrips ! Harper is cutting again - now they are dropping all responsibility for managing airports - leaving it to individual cities and townships to pass bylaws on building codes and hours of operation (if any !). :-( This new law will make it very expensive, or impossible, for a new airstrip or water aerodrome to operate ! Here's a copy : Aerodrome NPA Many organizations are urging a letter-writing campaign to MP's, as time is very short to try to change this. Jim C. and Mike B. were both looking forward to seeing their home airstrips in the new Flight Supplement. Probably a wise idea if you can do it in time ! Feb. 14 - Happy Valentines day ! There are some happy people out there - all of the Rebels from this run have been delivered. Only one had some shipping damage, and new parts are on the way. Renegade kits are being packed into crates, so they will be shipping very soon too, and work is progressing on the amphib floats. Jan. 30 - Production run update - The factory advised that ALL of the Rebel orders will be shipped this week. The Renegades will go next, in a week or 2, followed by the amphib floats. Thank you for your patience ! Jan. 14, 2015 - We had another great Builders Meeting on Sunday, January 11th, at Brampton RAA Clubhouse ! Ken flew in, the Parry Sound Wing drove down, and we had several new visitors. Cathy & Daniel were there to capture a bit of video background, for a proposed NFB film about aircraft homebuilding, and Mike drove up 3 hours from New York, bringing a neat tool he made,for Show 'n Tell. Thanks to Ken for heading the Rebel Forum, and bringing along his new 1800 amphib front gear leg, with larger wheel, longer forks, & softer tire. He had the original there to compare - I'm kicking myself that I didn't get pictures !! (anyone ??) If this works out, it might become 'the new standard' ! :-) There was lots of talk about changes at COPA, and the different insurance plans, as well as the new arrangements at the Murphy factory. Yogi brought a friend, and his daughter, to learn a bit about Rebels - she will be starting flying lessons at Brampton Flying Club soon. Always lots to learn at our meetings ! We were all saddened by the news that we lost Jim Albright to cancer, on Monday, January 5th. Jim always brightened our meetings with his humourous stories - and excuses for not getting his Rebel flying.... We will miss him ! There will be a tree planting memorial service on September 13th - maybe we can arrange a Rebel flyover, once we know the details ... Dec. 19 -  Dec. 15 - Murphy Aircraft factory re-organization - Mr. Murphy called today to advise that he has re-hired Stephane Marois as Sales Manager, and is moving all sales and marketing back in-house. Stephane will have a budget to place magazine ads, print brochures, do a web site make-over, and manage show appearances. Construction has started on a Rebel Sport to be used to obtain LSA certification. It is hoped that these changes will result in increased orders. Patterson AeroSales will continue to provide a sales service - details to be finalized, as will arrangements with present Sales Advisors. More information should be available over the next few weeks. Check here ! The factory will be closed for Christmas holidays from Dec. 22 to Dec. 26, and on January 1st. Nov. 14 - We had another great Murphy Builders Meeting, on Sunday, Nov. 9th ! We shared coffee & donuts, and exchanged a lot of tips & tricks ! This was our 110th meeting, since we started counting in 1992 !! 22+ years of shared experience - and hundreds of gallons of coffee ! Del came all the way from Dryden, ON, and the Parry Sound wing drove down for the fun. Tom sent his regrets - couldn't fly down because of the weather, but asked us to let everyone know that he has a couple of spaces free for winter storage at his field in Wingham. There was some discussion about the problems at COPA causing large numbers of resignations, and alternatives for insurance. The APBQ has offered reduced memberships at $45 for Ontario pilots, so they can obtain their coverage. The news from the factory was that new price sheets are coming, with increases, and changes in the basic specs. Click to view. It's titled Low and Slow to Alaska. A good magazine to subscribe to ... July 2 - Rebel Ramble to Alaska ! UPDATE - the 2 Rotax Rebels are now in Dawson City, on the way to Fairbanks. Jim and Tom, of the Black Sheep Squadron, left Ontario over a week ago, for the COPA Convention in Dawson Creek, and joined a group of about 40 others for a Ramble to Alaska. They are flying with their wives and tons of camping gear - as usual ! Tom has a SPOT GPS tracker with him, and you can follow their route by clicking here. They are also publishing a blog, with some great pictures, on Canadian Aviator magazine's site. Click to view. It's titled Low and Slow to Alaska. Looks like they are having a ball !! For the first time, the Rebels outnumbered the RV's at the COPA Convention ! Proves that if you want to have fun, travel, fly and camp - get a Rebel ! :-) July 1 - Rebel production run update ! The first kit shipped this week, and the next one will go later this week or early next week. The rest will follow, although some have asked for delayed delivery, so they might not go until August. There is still ONE Rebel available from this run - so call now to order ! May 26 - We had a great spring Murphy Builders Meeting on Sunday - May 26th ! at Brampton Airport, at the RAA Hangar ! We had lots of coffee, and, for the first time ever - we ran out of donuts !! There was a good crowd, and Ken gave us lots of useful information on the care & feeding of batteries - seems like the Odyssey are still the best bet. The Northern Wing drove down from Parry Sound - it was a bit windy ... Bill flew in with passengers in his amphib Moose - so we finally had a FLY-IN Moose for everyone to check out !! All admired the excellent workmanship, and the nicely finished interior. (The secret cloth material is called 'automotive trunk liner' ! ) Mike taxied over on his newly-finished amphibs, so all could check out his Rebel. Looking forward to seeing everybody at the next meeting - Sunday Sept. 15th !   Apr. 28 - Rebel production run update ! Parts are being made as quickly as we can. Many of our suppliers are also producing on an accumulation basis, so it is taking longer than usual to get materials. The last of our orders for aluminum sheet just arrived last week, and we are on track to start shipping kits in June. A bit later than we hoped, but it will be worth the wait for those lucky builders ! There is still ONE Rebel available from this run - so call now to order ! Apr. 9, 2013 - We had another great ..... Murphy Builders Annual Get-Together Party at Sun 'n Fun in Lakeland, FL. on Tuesday April 9th, after 4 PM, at the Campground Corn Roast area ! The first builders arrived early, and the party got started !   We did have a smaller crowd than in previous years, reflecting the lower general attendance - but the show is improving rapidly, with new management, and next year will be even better ! Everyone enjoyed meeting up with old and new friends, exchanging ideas, and the food & music were good, as usual ! We had builders from all corners of Canada and the USA - great to see you again ! Mar. 26 - Updates on MWfly aircraft engines - check it out under MORE ... The 150 hp. model is well along, and we will be exhibiting at Sun 'n Fun & Oshkosh ! Mar. 10 - Another Murphy Builders Meeting at Brampton Airport, at the RAA Clubhouse ! We had a good meeting with lots of donuts, coffee, and some chocolate ginger cookies.  Thanks to Ken & Drew for flying in to help out, and the Black Sheep Squadron for sharing flying stories & building tips with the new builders.  went to Mike E. this month .... We hope to see you all at the next meeting, on Sunday, May 26th, 2013. Feb. 3 - Check out the changes on Contact Us ! New information added to Tech Support ... Several of you have already run into the recent FAA requirement for THEIR new form for the Bill Of Sale, now needed to register your completed aircraft. They want this for every owner, from the factory on. Since some kits are 15 years old, and now on the third or fourth owner, this can be a challenge ! The factory only has recent records accessible - digging old ones out can be very time consuming, so they are forced to charge for preparing these new forms, which were not required when the kit was sold. They can only issue BoS forms to the original buyer, and you must get it from him. The factory offers 2 ways to get these, for those who want to save a bit of money. Anyone buying a new kit for construction in the USA should ask for this form with the kit, as it will be needed. Feb. 2 - Happy Groundhog Day ! He didn't see his shadow, so spring is on the way ! Keep rivetting, and you'll be flying soon !! Jan. 13th - Another Murphy Builders Meeting at Brampton ! We had a great meeting to kick the New Year off right, with coffee & donuts, and some panetone cake ... We missed Ken - work - and came up with our own show 'n tell, with help from the Northern Wing, who drove down from Parry Sound to share flying stories & building tips with the new builders. There were several old friends there too ! Bill shared the exciting story of his first Moose test flight - with engine failure on takeoff ! His message for all those installing older M-14's - check the rubber in the carb ! Harish is our newest Rebel builder, anxiously awaiting his kit #833R in the current run. John brought his laptop along, and presented a slide show of his trip to the West Coast last summer. Thanks for the beautiful pics of those high mountain lakes ! Great to see everybody ! Dec. 22 - Rebel production run orders and deposits Sent To Factory !  - Still a short time to get ONE new Rebel from this production run ... The orders with deposits trickled in very slowly - seems Canada Post was on a slowdown ! We lost one along the way, but the factory agreed to go ahead with this run anyway, starting when they return from the Christmas holiday, on January 2nd. That one extra kit will be in the run, and available for someone who moves quickly ! So - if you want that one new Rebel kit, just let me know & I'll send you the form, ready to fill in and return to me with the 60% deposit - and you've GOT IT ! Personal checks are OK, payable to Murphy Aircraft Mfg. Ltd. - USD$ are OK too ... the factory can sort out exchange, shipping, etc. when the balance is due. All the orders & deposits have been sent to the factory, and that ONE order should come to me, here in Brampton. If you miss this one, it might be at least another year or more to wait ... No new orders can be added, once the run starts. Nov. 11 - Another Murphy Builders Meeting at Brampton - Our 100th ! We had a good meeting to celebrate thousands of donuts and gallons of coffee ... Thanks to Ken for flying in to help out, and the Northern Wing, who drove down from Parry Sound to share lots of flying stories & building tips with the new builders. Oct. 29 - We have orders for a Rebel production run ! The factory is ready to start the production run, as soon as we send along the orders with deposits. New, complete order forms, have been sent out to all those who have ordered, ready to fill in and return to me with the deposit ! If you told me that you wanted to order for the 'next run' - NOW is the time to call !!! I will add you in, IF you email me BEFORE all the deposits are here ! All the orders & deposits will be sent to the factory, and the run will start, as soon as I have them ALL here. Oct. 7 - Price increases coming ! We have received the new price sheet for the Rebel - more are coming. The kit base price has been held, but several of the Options have gone up significantly ! The factory has agreed to hold the prices on orders already entered, as long as all the options are the same, but the new prices are effective immediately for new orders. Sept. 16th - Another Murphy Builders Meeting - small crowd, but a good one ! Thanks to all who made it. We had 3 fly-in Rebels, including Jason, on amphibs, from Haliburton, and 2 'international' visitors - Ken & Tom flew in from Frankenmuth, MI ! It was a very casual meeting, and Mike got lots of advice on the aileron he brought for 'show 'n tell' ... Bill's Moose is still awaiting paperwork, so we're hoping to see it next meeting, on Sunday, November 11th. July 24 - We had another great ..... Murphy Builders Annual Get-Together Party at Oshkosh, Wl on Tuesday July 24th, after 4 PM, at the Moose in Homebuilt Camping ! (< click for map) About 30 of you joined us & met other builders ! Everybody had a good time !! The BBQ was on, with lots of refreshments, with brats & munchies for all, supplied & served up by Chef Ted -- and some ate a bit too much ! Jim & Fish parked their Rebels near the Moose in CENTRAL Homebuilt Camping, so the Murphy line was well represented ! The crowd was smaller than last year, and the left over brats were donated to a group of a dozen high school students from Flabob Airport in California, on their first visit to Oshkosh. They were much appreciated and enjoyed ! We hope they'll be back - and maybe build Rebels at their school, one day !! ;-) We do have a plan to help with that. A big "THANK YOU !" to Chef Ted, who sponsored this year's party ! May 27 - Another Murphy Builders Meeting - small crowd, but a good one ! Thanks to Jim for showing his video presentation of the Black Sheep Squadron's recent ramble up to Moosonee, on James Bay !! The story of the trip included a few exciting moments .... Although the weather wasn't great, Jim flew in, as did Jason, with his new amphib Rebel, from Haliburton. We all went out to admire the excellent workmanship on the Rebel & amphibs. He has about 55 hours on it now, and a great big happy smile !! :-) Next meeting - Sunday, September 16th. May 6 - Moose Mission ! - We have been working for some time to get the Moose accepted for Mission work. This week, the project really started to move forward - a kit is being packed now to go overseas for review. If all goes well, the 3 groups we have been consulting with will be very pleased to hear that they will be able to order in 2 configurations, nosewheel or tailwheel, and either Experimental kits OR as completed, Certified aircraft, within a year !! Initial talks were based on a first order of 100 kits, but we believe it is now possible that we can proceed with as few as 20, and still keep the Certified price in the $200K - $300K range ! First run would likely use Lycoming 540 series engines. Future engine considerations include a new, certified 350 hp. diesel, to be available by 2014, among others ... This is exciting !!   We will welcome expressions of interest from other Missionary groups, or commercial / flight training operators. No firm committment required at this time. April 28 - Things are looking up ! There are a couple of new Rebel orders in the lineup. Get those orders in, so we can start another production run ! April 9 - Rotax has introduced the new Rotax 912-iS, with fuel injection and improved fuel economy - still 100 hp. ! This would be a great engine for someone to use in a Rebel Sport ! Prices will likely come down as production gets rolling - currently, it's close to $25K CAD, and you will need a ring-type mount ... March 27, 2012 - On Tuesday afternoon, March 27 we had another great Murphy Builders Annual Get-Together Party at Lakeland, FL ! Met up with fellow builders at the Sun 'n Fun Show on Opening Day, starting about 4 PM, at the Campground Corn Roast site, West of the hangars, on the edge of the campground. A small group this time... Unfortunately, Anna & I were NOT there this year* to bring the beer, wine, & munchies, so folks brought their own. Everyone bought the tasty corn, to support the local chapter. Please send some pictures to us. It'll help us through the winter ! ;-) * We didn't drive down this year for several reasons - the early show dates this year, and many other factors. We missed you all - this is the first one we've missed in 24 years ... :-( The new management have moved future dates back to April, which is great ! * There was no factory booth at the show, so the Get Together provided a chance to meet up with other builders. Hope to see you all there again next year !! .... Now - On to OSHKOSH !! March 11 - A good Murphy Builders Meeting - only Angus McKenzie flew in, on amphibs. It was sunny & clear, but windy ! Several new people, and lots of learning. Next meeting is Sunday, May 27th.... Jan. 8, 2012 - Happy New Year ! Our first Murphy Builders Meeting of the year was well attended - lots of old friends, and some new ones too... Ken again flew in and helped many by providing tips, tricks, and some interesting "show 'n tell" items that were passed around, including some very unusual clecos. Nov. 13 - Another good Murphy Builders Meeting - small crowd, but lots of new people. There were a couple of new Rebel owners, and a couple looking to buy... Lots of useful information was exchanged, and lots of coffee & donuts were consumed ! :-) Looking forward to the next one on January 8th !! Nov. 5 - The Rebel Builders Calendar for 2012 is now ready ! You can download it from the Upcoming Events section. Oct. 31 - Factory Update - The Amphib float run is almost finished - just one more set to finish ! Looks like we're getting close to another Moose run ! Sept. 25 - We had another good Murphy Builders Meeting on Sunday, Sept. 18th, at Brampton RAA. Little smaller crowd than usual, but still had 3 fly-in Rebels - Ken, Tom, and Drew. Aug. 14 - We had a great Murphy Builders Annual Get-Together Party at Oshkosh, Wl - we met up on Tuesday July 26th, after 4 PM, at the Moose in Homebuilt Camping. Ted parked in Central HB Camping, across from the Forums, next to Hap - we had 3 Mooses, 2 Rebels, & an Elite, and over 30 builders - a new record ! Ted was kept busy cooking & serving everyone, as I had a bit of a headache - Thanks again, Ted for all your help ! We added Steak Burgers as a treat this year, to go with the Bratwurst, nachos, cheezies, nuts, beer & wine... Lots for everyone ! I think everyone had a good time, exchanging tips 'n tricks, and connecting with fellow builders - nice to put a face to the names !

It would be great to have a Murphy Mob there ! :-) May 21 - Factory update - Good news !! The first amphib float kit will be shipping next week, and 2 more kits will go, together, to Washington, the following week, if shipping arrangements are completed. The plan is to ship another set every couple of weeks after that. They are doing the best they can in this economy, and appreciate everyone's patience ! If you prefer to arrange your own shipping, please let the factory know by email, now. April 9 - On Tuesday afternoon, March 29, 2011 we had another great Murphy Builders Annual Get-Together Party at Lakeland, FL ! Met up with fellow builders at the Sun 'n Fun Show on Opening Day, starting about 4 PM, at the Campground Corn Roast site, West of the hangars, on the edge of the campground. We brought the beer, wine, & munchies, and everyone bought the tasty corn there, to support the local chapter. Once again, Ralph & Sue donated a case of beer, and it was gratefully received by all. We also received 2 large Canadian flags from Bruce, who brought them all the way from Newfoundland and hung them on the end posts. Thanks - we will use them to mark all our future parties ! After several Rebels, Bruce is now building a Moose... The party was well attended, with at least 3 separate waves of a dozen or so folks arriving at different times - so some missed each other. Many stories and helpful tips were exchanged. Gary was there again, and brought his instructor. We were all interested in their adventures, and admire his spirit facing the challenge of learning to fly the Rebel with hand controls for rudder and brakes. The Maverick contingent helped reduce our inventory, as did the Renegade, Elite, and Moose groups. Rebel builders, of course, are well known for their capacity ! :-) Ken and friends tried to fly down from Canada again - had to land in Kentucky and rent a car to get here, because of the weather in between ! Everyone had a good time, happy that the rain held off until the next day. Anna & I packed up Wednesday, to avoid trying to do it in the rain - which we found, driving through a cold front to Ocala. Turned out well, as we missed the rain & tornado that touched down Thursday ! Fortunately, no serious injuries, but over 50 aircraft damaged .... Really didn't like leaving early - only had a chance to talk to a few people about ordering Murphy kits, and there was a lot of interest in the M-W aircraft engines too. (See under MORE on the home page ...) There was no factory booth at the show, so the Get Together provided a chance to meet up with other builders. Great to see you all again ! Hope to see you all there again next year !! .... On to OSHKOSH !! March 12 - Factory update - The Moose production run is finished. The last kit will be picked up this week. They are now catching up on some parts backorders with stock produced in this run. Most of the work is completed on the amphib float run, and they are being finished up, & packed, in the order that the payments were received. All of the crates are built and being filled as parts are done. The amphib float run is progressing slower than expected, but some should go within a few weeks. Sheet metal & extrusions are done, and machined parts are now being finished. Aug. 28 - Congratulations to Angus McKenzie for winning his class (RG RED) in the recent Great Canadian Air Rally at St. Thomas, ON, as part of the season for the Sport Air Racing League. Angus flew his O-320 Amphib Rebel.  July 27, 2010 - We had a great Murphy Builders Annual Get-Together Party at Oshkosh, Wl - met up on Tuesday July 27th, after 4 PM, at the Moose, in Homebuilt Camping, and worked our way through refreshments, munchies, and Bratwurst - All cooked up by Chef Brian ! Thanks again to Ted for providing the facilities and hosting, and Brian for cooking ! It was great seeing you all !

We are working on the Rebel Sport, and the Moose videos next. July 1, 2010 - The Renegade line production rights are still for sale. We will continue to accept orders, and Murphy will continue to produce Renegade kits, as they have for the last 26 years.
